Since its opening in 2009, Yorkshire Wildlife Park has evolved to become the UK’s number 1 on-foot safari. We feature walkthrough exhibits that take the guest directly into the world of the animals. A dynamic centre for conservation and welfare, the park currently has around 475 animals across more than 60 different species. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Animal Registrar to join YWP’s innovative and expanding Animal Department. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Animals to oversee the maintenance and accuracy of animal records, assist with the coordination of animal transportations and provide administrative support to the department. The successful candidate will have a diligent and methodical approach to their work with a keen eye for detail.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of ZIMS animal records.
• Support ZIMS training across the department.
• Coordinate animal transportations and support implementation of the Institutional Species Plan.
• To provide administration support to the Director of Animals and ZIMS Medical support to the consultant vets.
• To coordinate the work experience placement programme.
• Coordinate and organise relevant paperwork and documents.
• Assist the animal management team with ensuring the park complies with current legislations.

Candidate:

• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Must be a team player with the ability to multi-task.
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
• Previous experience of working in a similar role.
• Enthusiastic and self-motivated with the ability to work well under pressure.
• Must be flexible and able to work during our peak times which include weekends, bank holidays and school holidays.
