Living Collections Assistant – Aviculture (part-time)

WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre

15 hours per week working on Saturday and Sunday (and Bank Holidays)

£8,808 per annum

WWT Slimbridge is seeking a part-time bird keeper to help support our Aviculture team as we make a huge step forward. We are seeking a candidate who can work within a team, embrace change, and look forward to engaging with our futuristic new collection plan.

The successful candidate will have a wide range of experience in a variety of taxa, have a proven track record of working in a team, a drive to learn, communicate and succeed. You will have awareness of incubation and rearing skills, and an interest in animal behaviour. A driving license is essential.

Home to the 6 species of flamingo, one of the largest native species aviaries in the UK, and a multitude of wonderful wildfowl, the successful candidate will balance a variety of exciting opportunities. You will work within the Living Collection Team to a high standard, meeting the Zoo License requirements as set by the Secretary of State's Standards of Modern Zoo Practice. You will engage with visitor engagement and help us hit our Slimbridge Wetland Centre objectives.
